Beautiful 1946 Ercoupe Aircraft NOT for sale
( Read the ad )
I currently own a 1946 Ercoupe in excellent condition. Our
family has grown (a four legged addition) and this fella
will be BIG once grown, hence I am looking to get into a
four seater aircraft. Please read about the airplane below
and then at the bottom the offers I would entertain.
The plane:
- 1946 Erco Ercoupe 415D WITH rudder pedals - Empty weight
950 lbs, T/O weight 1,400 lbs. - Continental C-85 engine,
full rebuilt 26 hours ago in December 2020 (not zero timed,
but most gears changed, camshaft grind, new mags, rebuilt
fuel pump, and much more) - Last oil change on June 25, no
metal found - TTSN on airframe: 4197 - Exterior is a solid 8
or 9 out of 10. Interior is a sold 7 or 8 out of 10. - Two
radios, transponder and all standard instruments - Last
annual December 2020, all compressions in mid 70s. - Cruise
at 100 mph at 5-6 gph all day, every day. 24 gallons fuel
tanks (9 in each wing, 6 in the header) Much more to list
here, the plane flies beautifully. I've flown it all over
B.C. and the Prairies. This aircraft is the perfect time
builder, confidence builder or weekend trip airplane. All
times subject to change as I fly the plane on a regular
basis.
Acceptable offers:
Option 1: If you have a mid-time four seat, certified, in
annual, aircraft, but are looking to get into something
smaller that will get you there at 100 mph and 5-6 gph, I'd
love to look into a trade. Planes I would be interested in
are Piper Cherokees, Cessna 172s, Piper Tri-Pacers,
Beechcraft Musketeers, Grumman AA-5s, or anything else you
might have with four seats that flies, as long as it's not a
tail dragger, complex/high performance plane or in owner
maintenance.
Option 2: If you own a four seater, based at CYQR and would
like to partner, I would be interested in partnering with
you, giving you a share in the Ercoupe for a share in your
four seater aircraft.
Option 3: This is my least preferred option, but I would
sell the plane. However, please note that I am an
unmotivated seller. I won't entertain any offers below $30k
(don't even try, seriously, you'll be wasting my and your
time). Also, I am in absolutely no hurry. I enjoy flying the
plane. Our four legged family addition is small enough to
ride in the back for at least another 9-12 months and even
once he outgrows it, he can stay home with friends when my
wife and I go on weekend trips and I can rent a larger plane
for longer trips, or take the car.
I would also trade for a
Cessna 150/152 since these planes support up to 120 lbs in
the back (vs. 65 lbs in the Ercoupe) and therefore our four
legged buddy could tag along in a Cessna once fully grown.

reducing it collection of artifacts, and has one, 2-person basket
with single burner and tank and a 4-person basket with double burner
set up. They have been in dry storage for at least 10 years and
would require rigorous inspection if considered for flight. Located
